It’s an interesting time, a scary time for some, and certainly a time of challenge for many.

The one advantage that you have though is that you own your own business.  Yes it is terrible that the market is going crazy, and that credit will get tighter… but you are blessed in the sense that you are not limited by a fixed hourly paycheck. You do not have to have worries about being fired by your boss. You literally get to create your own future, and you can make it as BIG as you’d like it to be.

Now… I’m not going to gloss over this as if it’s not a big deal, the current economic situation.  It’s actually serious… very serious.  Which is why I’m posting this.

Now more than ever, you need to be smart about your business decisions, and strategic with your buying decisions.  You need to make sure that every single action you take is creating results for you.  You need to seek out the markets that want your high-level services, and package yourself so you can make those sales come… and make them multiply.

More than ever, it is your marketing and service skills that are going to make your future brighter… or darker.

I’ve spoken with hundreds of cleaners over the past months, some doing very well and some doing horribly.

The difference with the first group has been their ability to identify what is working, and doing more of it… and also their ability to stay positive in an environment that tends to be horribly negative.  It’s also their ability to learn simple internet marketing skills to couple with their ads, direct mail, and networking to multiply the dollars they are generating.

And the ones not doing well seem to be stuck trying the same things over and over again… and literally spending themselves into a black hole.  Many are cutting prices, which is truly the worst thing they can be doing right now.

Hope is not a strategy in a climate like this.. taking decisive action to better your business capabilities is.
