Your FOCUS Muscle: Most Valuable Muscle You Can Develop

Dear Friends,

When I first started this blog, one of my early posts was a killer video interview I did with my good friend and brilliant Marketer Dean Jackson.

That interview video was so well received (I actually sent it out to a handful of people on DVD as well with tons of positive feedback) that I thought I would share another killer video of Dean talking about a subject that I know you will benefit from and is so badly needed in the current fast paced, insanely busy world that most entrepreneurs live in.

Not too long ago Dean recorded a 50 minute presentation to a small group of Real Estate Agents on the subject of FOCUS… how to better leverage your time to make more money and create freedom to do the important things you want to do. This video is posted at the end of this message.

I have watched this video twice and I had my entire Team at Piranha Marketing watch this video. It simply kicks ass and is filled with a simple and powerful process that is easy to understand and duplicate.

If you watch this video and do exactly what Dean suggests it will help you develop more of an ELF™ (Easy, Lucrative, and Fun) business and I bet it will make you a lot happier and reduce lots of overwhelm from your life.

I guarantee that if you devote the next 50 minutes to watching this video, Dean will share with you a few Elegant Ideas that can literally change your life and how you go about getting things done. So go ahead and watch the video now… and afterward, I’d love for you to post a comment (so others can benefit from your wisdom and insights).

Best,

JOE

PS – if you’d like to hear my Genius Network interview I did with Dean that talks a little more about the subject of focus and shares a little more of Dean’s philosophies, just email Eunice at eunice@joepolish.com and put in the subject line: Dean Jackson Genius Network Interview. Thanks!

  1. You see, this is exactly why (next to Joe and Lisa, of course!) Dean is one of the smartest businessmen around. Very simple, yet elegant, ideas that anyone can implement instantly in their business.

I may have to watch this a second time ;-)

  2. I’m very impressed with the video and I particularly liked the multitasking exercise. :) It clearly shows that no one can really multitask and get any real value from it!! So again, thanks for sharing the tidbits.

  3. Thanks Joe. This is great! Never really “got” the power/benefit of “single mindedness” when it comes to project management until now.As a result I am focusing on getting 1 money making project up 1st vs many 3,4 or 6 months from now. Thanks again Joe,Dean and Pirahna Marketing.-Alex

  4. I only act upon a few recommendations from a few people because they have earned the right to be heard. Joe, you have earned that right. Thanks for your recommendation to view this video. I love the connection between the concepts of “Getting Things Done”, “The 4-Hour Work Week”, and “The War of Art” – I’ve fallen down but now have a way to get back up thanks to Dean’s info!

  5. There is much wisdom and great advice in this video. I’ve been studying “time management” for years and found many ideas that I will use in my daily and weekly life. Thank you for sharing such down to earth, practical information.

  6. Incredible stuff, I can see how this would work in most instances. How about a service style business, where your phone or constant interuptions are your business. This stuff I can see will work for marketing and systems work.

  8. In a world that has been so consumed with the false idea that “multi-tasking” is an efficiency enhancer, this message is so powerful.

If only I could eliminate ‘tabs’ from my browser now… lol

  9. Wow, this was great. It’s so easy to find new things to try, new distractions. But very hard to stay focused. Thank you for sharing these tips!

  10. We, like kids, are surrounded by so much time killing “candy” these days. Opportunity is knock, knock, knocking at every door and window of our lives. Technology has opened up the worlds oysters and its pandora boxes- and we want to experince it all before our last breath on earth. But the power of this message is that we need to focus on the quality of our time because we cannot create more of that time. The power of a laser focused mind and a single task gives more satisfaction and pleasure than any email I’ll ever recieve. Thanks for the free video.

  13. WOW! Just watched the Focus video and all i can say is this is the most practical time leveraging system that I have come across. Funny thing is Joe sent this to me a while back and i could not focus long enough to watch the first couple of minutes, I said I will get back to it, of course I never did at least not in my intended time frame, until now. I wonder what this cost me in wasted time! I have already started using everything taught.
    Thanks for the Fantastic Information

  14. What I would suggest with reguard to the pumkin. I would give it to a neigbor who cooks. That pumkin could make a lot of pies. So I would put an ad on Craigs list in your area, and I know there is someone who would love that pumkin and maybe even be praying for a home made pumkin pie.

As reguard to what you could teach me. I think the most valuable thing I could learn is to not drop my prices to low. It seems like in this economy its easy to ben over to far. How can I add more value so I dont have to drop my prices so far so as not to put my business in jepordy. People are crying broke and resesson and before you know it Im dropping my price. This is not a win win

  17. You could easily charge for this 50 minutes of golden nuggets. Acting on this will change my life. (I’m going to go get a timer now.)

  18. This stuff rocks. Unfortunately too many people will watch and not implement :( Dean even gave us a powerful experience to prove that trying to multi-task results in more time, less finished money-making projects, more frustration and an increasing loop of “half-way” done projects that are endless. If that proof doesn’t inspire you to change you time sucking, productive destroying habits, that’s wrong!

Love the 50:20:50 and from my experience Dean is correct when saying 50 minutes of true uninterrupted focus allows for serious productivity.

One thing that was left out that is key to mention, in my opinion, is that when you don’t multi-task and actually complete a project completely it is a WIN and creates momentum, feeling of accomplishment and energizes you to keeping knocking proactive projects (most that will probably result in money) off the list.

    Killer stuff. Thanks Dean
